Ellen Drevnig, CPA, CA, CFF and Frank Nudo, FSA, FCIA, met in 2004, at a downtown Toronto, mid-sized, full-service accounting firm. That firm had a significant and well-known litigation accounting and actuarial services team, led by a giant in the damage quantification space. The firm’s practice was primarily focused on the quantification of economic damages for personal injury and wrongful death cases. In 2013, the mid-sized Toronto firm attracted the attention of a national accounting firm and they joined forces. Four years later, the Toronto office of the national firm doubled, and merged with a large, global accounting firm.
However, an international brand did not add value to the practice. Ellen and Frank shared a common belief that the specialized focus of a boutique was the best way to deliver the highest level of expertise in a more effective, efficient manner. As a result, Ellen and Frank began discussing the idea of setting up a litigation accounting and actuarial services boutique firm of their own, where they could control the quality and cost of their services. Hence, the EF Group was launched.
